Our Growing Practices
At Roaming Roots Farm, we prioritize natural farming methods. Our practices are rooted in care for the land and our community. We nourish our soil with natural fertilizers, lightly till to preserve its structure and enrich it with cover crops and annual field rotations. Our fertilizers include locally sourced manure from horses and cows, chicken manure, and compost from our farm.
We believe in supporting our local community, so we strive to source everything we need for the farm as close to home as possible.
Building Community at Roaming Roots
We’re excited to bring the community together through a range of projects in the next few years:
A farm stand in South Slocan Village, near the Rail Trail, offering fresh produce and more.
Monthly farm-to-table dinners (seasonal) where you can enjoy the fruits of our labor in good company.
Glamping accommodations tailored for bike packers seeking a restful farm stay.
Goats, goats, goats! Look forward to a playful addition of goats on the farm.
Educational partnerships with local farms and instructors to bring hands-on, fun courses right to the farm.
We’re passionate about fostering a farm that connects people, food, and the land. Join us as we grow together!
